I did notice that it left a hard-to-get-off white sticky substance on the floor wherever it dripped--my fault for not putting down thicker newspaper. It's expensive for each egg, and you can't guarantee you'll get the whole set as the color of the egg doesn't guarantee a different mermaid from what the description says (we got 4 different ones from 4 different colors, so I guess we got lucky). However...It was Great entertainment for my 7 year old daughter when I needed to do other things, and she used the mermaids in other toys afterwards. It was fun to watch the bubbles, there were a lot. My rating was mostly based on her fun; not price. Laurie
I asked my 7 year old daughter to write:
"I love the entire set that I got--Mandy, Pearl, Calla and Elli. Opening them was a big suprise, but when I put them in cold water they didn't change color. I am having a lot of fun anyway. The best surprise was when I saw all of the bubbles coming out of the pool! I also like playing with them out of the water."

These little mermaid things are addictive, and my daughter and I have been actively collecting them. They are very small (about 2 1/2 inches). If you have the mermaids, you need the pool. My 4-year old daughter spends a lot of time sliding the mermaids down the slide to splash in the pool, which holds a good amount of water to spill on your floor. Fizzing a shell in the water produces a large amount of foam which is rather entertaining. Use hot water for best results. The two pool chambers are only separated by a thin wall, however, so the small pool for cold water warms up quickly. Tails do noticeably change color. The only moving parts are the heads, which swivel and can be interchanged if bored. Mermaids do not stand up too easily.
Used it in the sink.
Reusable and durable and able to add more later.
It is wet but use it in the sink and it is ok.
