The Evolution of Water Babies:
Since 1990, more than 16 million Water Babies have been sold, making them the second best-selling "large doll" of all time. Water Babies first came to life when a Midwest banker by the name of Dan Lauer passionately pursued his dream of developing a realistic doll inspired by the ones his sisters would make out of water balloons in the '60s. He was determined to bring his water-filled-doll concept to market. �There was nothing out there that came close to delivering on that magical feeling and satisfaction of holding a warm little baby in your arms,� recalls Lauer.

�As a parent, when I would fill Water Babies for my daughters, I knew I was handing them a doll they would carry, snuggle and play with in an old-fashioned manner,� Lauer said. "The dolls stay warm for hours and move just like real babies when you squeeze them."
